Getting to Virgin Gorda & Dos Sols Villa

Onsite Rental Management and Concierge Service

When you stay at Dos Sols, you have the ease of mind that there is an onsite experienced management team to help you plan for your trip and take care of any needs you may have throughout your stay. Our excellent concierge service provided by Virgin Gorda Villa Rentals can assist with local air, water & land transportation arrangements, car rentals, private chef service, pre-stocking the villa, obtaining nannies and babysitters, restaurant recommendations and reservations, arranging spa treatments in the privacy of the villa, assist with boat & watersport rentals, snorkel and scuba adventures, or help you arrange a special occasion celebration such as a wedding or anniversary.

Imagine this:
Fly into Virgin Gorda Airport. From the air, see turquoise waters surrounding emerald hillsides bordered by giant boulders and pristine reef. VGVR Concierge Service will arrange to have you picked up at the airport and escorted to Dos Sols Villa. Allow VGVR to fully pre-stock the kitchen so on arrival you can uncork a bottle of wine or pop a Red Stripe and unwind from your trip. Later, enjoy a dinner of Anegada lobster risotto followed by the fresh catch of the day at the Leverick Bay Restaurant. Let the concierge service arrange a nanny for the evening. After a dip in our heated pool, fall asleep to the sounds of gentle waves lapping the beach below, and tree frogs singing their nightly chorus. Awaken the next morning to a spectacular sunrise over the North Sound as the island roosters announce a new day. Consider a day cruise to Anegada, or just relax in the heated pool and watch the colors of the water change as the sun rises.

Getting to Virgin Gorda Island can be a challenge – which is one reason the island is so special and un-busy! Let us help you with suggestions for travel and airport transfers to make your journey as smooth as possible.  To enter the British Virgin Islands, you will need a passport that will not expire within 6 months of entry. Visitors may stay for up to a month, or apply to stay longer. The airport departure tax is $15 per person.

By Air

There are no direct flights from the USA, Canada, Europe, or South America to the British Virgin Islands’ main airport, the Terrence B. Lettsome Airport (EIS), located on Beef Island/Tortola.

All flights must connect through another Caribbean airport on islands such as Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Kitts, or St. Maarten/St. Martin. From the United States mainland, most travelers connect through San Juan or St. Thomas.

From San Juan (SJU) or St. Thomas (STT):
Airlines with scheduled service into San Juan, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, USVI include Jet Blue, Delta, US Airways, American, United, Spirit, Air Canada, and British Airways. From either San Juan or St. Thomas, guests can fly into Beef Island/Tortola (EIS) or directly to Virgin Gorda airport (VIJ), using Cape Air or Air Sunshine. Seaborne also flies into Beef Island/Tortola.

  • From the Beef Island airport, it is a picturesque 30-minute ferry ride from the adjacent ferry dock to the Leverick Bay Marina dock. You will be met by a VGVR representative at the dock and taken to the villa following check in.
  • From the Virgin Gorda airport, we can help arrange a rental car at the airport and escort to Leverick Bay and Dos Sols, or arrange for a taxi for the 20-minute ride to Leverick Bay.

If you choose to fly on Cape Air, please compare prices from their website with what you might obtain by booking from your hometown to Tortola or Virgin Gorda; there can be a significant difference! In addition, six airlines, including United and JetBlue, do codeshare with Cape Air; this means you can check your bags to Virgin Gorda at your departing U.S. airport.

Another option for air travel from SJU or STT to Virgin Gorda is by a 40-minute charter with Air America Caribbean or Fly BVI.

By Sea

From the St. Thomas airport, guests can take a 15-minute taxi ride to the Charlotte Amalie Harbor where a 90-minute, non-stop Speedy’s ferry departs at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4PM on Saturday and takes you directly into Virgin Gorda, BVI. The return ferry departs Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda at 6:30 a.m. (Tuesdays/Thursdays) or 8:30 a.m.(Saturday). Plan on a return flight home after 1 p.m. There are alternative ferries that can be taken during daylight hours from St. Thomas to Tortola (where you clear Customs) followed by a ferry to Virgin Gorda. Check with the concierge for details, or click here BVI Welcome or BVI Ferries for details.

After arrival at the Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda ferry terminal, we can arrange for either a rental car to be delivered and escort to the villa, or for a taxi. The drive to the North Sound is over Gorda Peak and has numerous spectacular overlooks and photo opportunities.
